Albums
The discography of the American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, as well as a number of compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 following the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen quit the group, and they held auditions to find a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering demos and tapes from the past to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans and Toto began a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar quit the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour and also an interview with the group.
