Albums
The discography of the American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, as well as a number of compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their earlier albums and was criticized for the absence of hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group, and the band held auditions to find the new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old tapes and demos to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans and the band embarked upon the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

The song "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge success in Europe and a variety of other countries. The single's success helped Toto regain their popularity following their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.
After the album, Toto went on a world tour. The group featured touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. Steve Lukather also released his second solo record, Luke.
