Albums
Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed the members of the group did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group, and the band held auditions for the new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band went through old recordings and tapes to create the special record. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar quit the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live album titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
